Boys U14 A v St Albans |
Result: Won 4-0 |
Scorers: Gilham x2, Hitchcock, Wisbey |
Review: Off the back of an impressive performance in the regional tournament Felsted U14A's faced a strong St Albans side. The first half was very evenly matched with both sides creating chances. Holme did a great job in goal to keep out the visitors and just before half time Hitchcock scored a well taken flick off a short corner. Into the second half and Felsted were looking to push on and put the game beyond St Albans and they did just that. Some nice link up play from Broom lead to Gilham making it 2-0. Gilham struck again a few minutes later to make it 3-0 putting the game beyond St Albans. Dodgson made a great save in the second half to make sure the visitors didn't get a consolation goal. Into the last few minutes of the game and Felsted broke down the St Albans defence again for Wisbey to slot home a goal making it 4-0 at the final whistle. A great performance against a very strong St Albans side. |

Boys U14 Essex Tournament - RSG
Felsted arrived at a very wet Redbridge Sports Centre to take part in the U14 East Tournament. Having won their past two games convincingly the team had high hopes to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
The first game was against Bangcrofts and the boys came out flying dominating the first half and scoring 3. Into the second half and Bancrofts began to turn on the pressure pulling 2 goals back to make it a nail biting end. Felsted managed to keep their composure to finish the game 3-2 up, a crucial first win and 3 points on the board.
With win number one under our belts Felsted were keen to push on against Coopers Coborn who always promise to be a tough opposition. However, Felsted played some superb hockey to make the score 9-0.
Into the last two games and Felsted knew these results would determine whether they progressed in the competition. Forest was first and Felsted played some great flowing hockey moving the ball early and linking nicely in midfield. Some great defencive work at the back from Stefan Warner and Thomas Lane-Feldman, meant we limited there goals to 1. Whilst the Felsted attack managed to get 11 with Archie Halls, George Hitchcock, Alex Jackson, Charlie Broom and Alex Gilham all getting there names on the score sheet.
Not happy with going through as runners up Felsted went into the last game against Chigwell wanting to show that they were the best team there. The match was edgy with Felsted scoring first then Chigwell getting one back to make it 1-1. The team defended brilliantly and attacked with speed making it hard for Chigwell to get out of their half. The boys proceeded to score another 3 goals making it a convincing 4-1 victory.
A great performance by the whole squad who have now qualified for the next round of the competition to be held on the Tuesday 28th February. Thank you to all the parents who came out to support the boys in less than ideal conditions!
Tournament Goal Scorers:
George Hitchcock - 4
George Pohl - 1
Alex Jackson - 6
Alex Gilham - 3
Josh Wisbey - 1
Archie Halls - 8
Charlie Broom - 4
Boys U14 v Framlingham
| Boys U14 A v Framlingham |
| Result: Lost 3-0 |
Review: After a string of successful results the U14 A team were looking to continue with their winning ways on a very cold Saturday afternoon against Framlingham. The game started at a quick pace and both teams had chances to open the scoring. Framlingham were strong in midfield and put the Felsted players under maximum pressure when they had the ball. The first goal came from an unfortunate Felsted error leading to an own goal. One nil down Felsted pushed on creating a few chances however; a lack of width and team play meant they soon let in another goal to make it 2-0. Just before half time Framlingham made it 3-0. Into the second half, Felsted played much better hockey, several chances went begging leaving the final score a disappointing 3-0 loss. A big thank you must go to the parents who came out to support in freezing conditions. |
